desert island, all-time, top five albums, in order:

2. weezer, pinkerton
1. Ani Difranco, Living in Clip

But then, depending on my mood, some Tori or Velvet Underground or Modest Mouse, or maybe even Cat Stevens might sneak in there. Maybe I should just make a new one every day. 'Cause I want to be able to put Counting Crows and phish and Joan Baez, too. And, god help me, I cannot ignore the deep intense love I have for Siamese Dream and perhaps a few more items from the Pumpkins' repartoire. And I really wanted to put out of range on there, but didn't want to seem that... un-well-rounded, that two of my top-five were by the same girl, worship her though I do. (and I really like like i said and also, the new double disc.) Ah, and Foo Fighters!

The Color and the Shape may, in fact, tie with Dar for that number 5 slot.

Actually, a more difficult list might be my top-five books ever, but since I'm in the mood for a challenge, and feel like writing, but oscar won't let me get to my email, here goes:

best five books I've read in my thus-far rather short little life:

5. The Lord of the Rings trilogy, J. R. R. Tolkien
4. The Sound and the Fury, William Faulkner
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, J. K. Rowling
2. Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, Richard Bach
1. The Fountainhead, Ayn Rand

A strange grouping, I suppose. But, at least I left out this wretched little romance novel that I'm torturously in love with, and didn't fill the whole list with children's books, which could quite easily have been accomplished, and in fact, it took all my maturity and restraint to not list Matilda by Roald Dahl, and The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster, and all of the Harry Potter books. And, really, since I didn't specify fiction books, that list really should include The Man Who Loved Numbers about Paul Erdos, because that book fuckin' rules. But I can't think of the author's name off the top of my head, and don't have time to look it up because I'm about to head out to Forsyth for some Ultimatin' and some reading... maybe I'll start Illuminatus!, but it just doesn't seem like a lie-in-the-grass-on-a-pretty-summer-day kinda book. Maybe I'm mistaken though. And none of the books on my to-read pile look like those kinda books anyway. Oooh, I do have a new Carson McCullers though (speaking of whom, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is a close-cut on the top-five list.)
